GradFin Welcomes Shannon McCormack to the Team!

Shannon McCormack

Congratulations Shannon McCormack on joining GradFin as a Student Loan Consultant! Shannon is one of GradFin’s latest hires, and we are very excited to have her with us. To learn a little bit more about Shannon and the ways in which she will be an asset to the company, we sat down for a short Q&A.

Q: Where did you attend school and what did you study?

A: I graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a degree in metalsmithing, if you can believe it. I have worked privately as a jeweler ever since. The budgeting, planning, and adaptability required to be a goldsmith overlaps nicely into more traditional professional roles. I think training a creative mind has been invaluable to how I can problem solve.

Q: What were you doing before GradFin?

A: Right before I joined GradFin, I was working in relationship management for a local bank in addition to running a jewelry business. I still run the business but was able to grow into my GradFin role to help more people overcome financial challenges.

Q: What drew you to GradFin? What is it about this position that excites you?

A: I love the company’s mission of helping people live debt free. Having so many resources to get someone a lower payment, lower rate, and better plan for the future they want is extremely fulfilling.

Q: What experiences are you bringing to your new role and how can this help a GradFin
client?

A: I have worked on analyzing situations and planning for everything from a weekly budget to a 30 year mortgage for my clients over the years. Finding the unique solution buried within a tricky set of problems has always been one of my favorite things.

Q: Why are you passionate about helping people manage their student loans?

A: Nearly everyone I know graduated with significant student loans. I’ve seen my closest friends and family struggle to move forward due to the weight of these balances and ever growing interest. For that better part of a decade, I’ve been privately helping those close to me manage these debts, and I’m so happy to have the resources at GradFin to take on the student debt crisis at a higher level.

Q: What have you learned from your experience so far with GradFin?

A: GradFin is a wonderful company for learning more about all types of debt solutions. In just a few weeks, I have learned so many more avenues of opportunity for every type of borrower. The collaborative atmosphere at GradFin has meant that every day I hear new clever tips and tricks to help people with, and I’m thrilled to continue learning.
